Moscow, 10 August 2018 — BGP Litigation acted as an exclusive legal and investment advisor for a major investment transaction.
The subject matter of the transaction was purchase of a well-known site in the historic district of Moscow — on the square near Paveletsky Railway Station - for construction of a large shopping mall with total area of 73 thousand sq.m. with an extremely complex legal history. The firm's client was the structure of the buyer Sergey Gordeev, the main counterparty was a foreign banking group (BTA-Bank).
The transaction became possible due to a combination of legal and investment expertise of the firm. The project implementation confirms leadership of the firm's investment team in the M&A real estate segment.
Construction of the shopping mall near Paveletsky Railway Station began in 2007. After the economic crisis of 2008, the work was suspended, and the project itself became subject of multiple legal proceedings, which resulted in purchase of the object at auction by BTA-Bank structures.
