BGP Litigation announces that Partner Pavel Kondukov has joined the Firm, strengthening its tax law competences.
Pavel Kondukov has specialised for over 20 years in tax consulting, tax disputes and rule-making. He handles tax structuring of businesses and transactions as part of major Russian and international projects, tax auditing, and diagnostics of business and transaction tax efficiency. He also advises on various disputable aspects of Russian and international taxation, application of preferential tax treatments and benefits, tax refunds, value formation and tax classification of assets, and develops methodological documents. Pavel has experience of supporting major oil and gas, metals industry, pharmaceutical, construction and other companies on complex issues of sectoral taxation and management of the tax part of mandatory audits. He participated in developing amendments to the Russian Tax Code, the Law on the Continental Shelf of the Russian Federation and other legislative acts, as well as in preparing the new product sharing agreement on the part of the Russian Ministry of Power.
Before joining BGP Litigation, he worked for six years as Director of the Tax Department of the Kept legal advisory firm (ex KPMG), where he handled complex projects in which the firm’s foreign offices and Russian practices were involved. Before that, he headed the practice at the Pepeliaev Group, where he managed Russian and international tax projects and the firm’s office in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. Pavel has experience of being in charge of the FTS legal department and investigating tax and economic crimes when working for the Federal Tax Police Service Directorate.
An expert on the Russian State Duma Energy Committee and the RUIE Tax Policy Committee. He is recognised as a leading lawyer by the international Best Lawyers, The Legal 500 and IFLR1000 ratings, and the national Pravo-300 rating. He headed up the project recognised by The ITR European Tax Award as the European tax project of the year in the energy sphere.
