Maxim Kuzmin take part in World Litigation Forum

Maxim Kuzmin, counsel at BGP Litigation, take part in the international online conference World Litigation Forum. Together with Manuel Gordillo partner ABENCYS, during the session " Force Majeure Claims in a Modern Connected World" participants discussed the difference in Russia and Spain approaches to the Covid-19 pandemic as a force majeure circumstance.

Two countries have similar way for solving many issues. Russia as well as Spain has adopted special legislative measures aimed for deferring the payment of rental payments and exempting tenants from liability. Participants also agreed that the most optimal way to prove the existence of force majeure circumstances would be to use the opinion of an independent expert.

Maxim also spoke about practical issues related to proving force majeure in the context of international arbitrations conducted by the firm.

The World Litigation Forum annually brings together lawyers from all over the world in Amsterdam, London or Dubai. This year the forum was held 11 times in a new online format. You can get access to the speeches of the participants by the link.
